The strongest evidence for Gyeongbuk Manufacturing AX in 2026 is that Gumi and Pohang were selected as two of the three nationwide AX demonstration industrial complexes, and a manufacturing AI infrastructure worth 48.1 billion won, including Data Stations, Open Labs, and Digital Twins, has begun to be established. Industrial demand is also expanding. Daegu and Gyeongbuk possess a foundation of approximately 470 semiconductor-related companies and over 1,700 specialized materials, parts, and equipment (Sobujang) firms. Furthermore, through a 486.2 billion won robot strategy scheduled for August 2026, Gyeongbuk planned for the industrial transformation of 150 existing manufacturing companies and the establishment of 80 AI factories. However, these figures largely represent the scale of the corporate base or future policy goals and cannot be translated into actual new supply contracts or scale-up achievements. The area where public evidence has been relatively weak to date is the last half of corporate growth . While AI model development and on-site manufacturing validation are verified, corporate-level performance—such as client certifications, new procurement contracts, increased sales and exports, and job growth—is not disclosed based on consistent standards.
